The Golden Ticket
Dreamy conditions… every fricken day for a week
It has a been long long time between drinks on the East side. When Rambo text to suggest going back to the Far North I jumped at the invite. And what an invite it was, a Golden Ticket, to get to stay on a property around the famed reef. These are the opportunities you don't pass up for next time, this was a seize the day situation. Neither of us realised just how good the following week was about to become.
Monday’s building swell
Two back to back boil ups in the Tasman produced swell on the points every day of the week. A rarity around those parts. There were 6 foot sessions at the peak of the first bump, there were some humblings. The swell/s never dropped below 2 foot. We surfed and shot in the 3-4 foot range everyday.

Camping elevated above a sick left hand sand bottom point. Sometimes 3 of us out, other times crowded with 10. Asleep by 7.30, awake by 5.30. Lifting your head off the pillow to watch long walls peel down in the predawn glow. Feel the shoulder ache. Load up on magnesium, electrolytes and ibuprofen in prep for the next paddle. Living the dream.

Rambo pointed 'People would pay 10 grand to do this for a week. To have waves like this, with options on every tide just a walk away.' He was on the money. I've paid more and surfed a lot less.
