Raglan Pro Photo Dump
Cliche but so so true, it has been an incredible week of shooting and vibes here in Raglan for the first ever World Series League, Raglan Pro. Media huddles, mad free surfing, epic performances and maxed out crowds. All the things everyone ever hoped for.
One of Italo Ferreira’s many, many airs
I’m not even going to try to mansplain the week that was, you could write a novel about it. So this web log is a massive photo dump, the surfing and the people.
In 1995 when the WQS came to Raglan I shot this spread. Budge and I were on the rocks concentrating on action… like the images top and bottom of the crowd shot by Budge. I turned turned around and freaked out about the crowd. I wanted to emulate that 30 years on.
Yesterday at noon the shuttle buses stopped, Manu Bay had reached the estimated 6,500 capacity. I think there were more as most locals had resident passes. You did it people, the WSL [with a lot of help from SNZ] built it and we came in droves. So sick.
Course if you want a more dreamier image of Manu you could always have this HERE
The Raglan Pro is now on hold, I’m guessing until the bump in swell next weekend. BUT don’t hold me to it, check the WSL daily HERE for updates.
