Piha Pumps

Crazy good westside, the whole coast was pumping from all accounts

Last weekend saw the final comp of the 21st annual Billabong/OceanBridge Grom Series. And Piha turned it on for the Groms. You can view all my images from the comp on Surfing NZ’s Facebook page HERE

It was a welcome return to the homeland for me, catching up with the crew and staying with good ol’ mates Greg and Sue Fraser, who spoiled me rotten. Two long days of shooting our up and coming juniors can be taxing, it wasn’t this round. Piha turned it on and there was some spectacular surfing going down.

How fun!

The free surfing around the event was equally as good. It was tough staying put shooting heats knowing that North Piha was sizzling. But here’s some frames from just outside the competition…

Anyone know who this grom is?

Of course it wasn’t quite like this, but it was still damn fine. You can buy this is a print HERE

Dune Kennings turned 30 last month and his best mates and I co-ordinated this print for him. He’s stoked, the lads are stoked and I’m fricken frothing to see the image framed up so nicely.

Dune with his print of the lads chairing him up after his 2023 Nationals Victory, which was the 60th year of the Nats. How Good!

OK, short and sharp this week, been surfing too much. See ya out there!
