Go Luke!

Today Luke Darby is featuring over on RNZ HERE. I'm so stoked he's got some props. He deserves it, the cruisey, quiet achiever has ...well, achieved a lot.

1993! Luke, Budge and some random hair farmer sporting our flash as on trend T’s

Luke is one of my best mates. We started working together at NZ Surfing Mag in 1993. His passion and froth for surfing and his talent as a graphic designer made him the only choice when we looking for a new employee. We put the grommet through the ringer, all nighters during deadlines. I vividly remember the poor 19 year old losing his shit at 8am after one long haul. Not angry, but after being awake and fuelled on pizza and caffeine for 24 hours, Luke couldn't focus on even saving the document. As I write this I realise we sent him home...as in, didn't get him in a taxi, we let him drive home.

Since those halcyon times there's been 21st's, births, deaths, stag do's, weddings and lots and lots of surfing. Luke's passion for surfing is unwavering. In 2017 he represented NZ in San Deigo at the ISA Adaptive Worlds. He's actively involved in DSA days and been the Prez of Adaptive Surfing NZ.

Yeah the Darbler!

Luke designed and built this very website you are on now. He's also my go to graphic designer for everything including books. Anyway, not injecting myself into this anymore. Go Luke, you're the man, bro.
